Hello, I’m Darwin Lozano, a passionate advocate for servant leadership. My mission is to empower parents, businesses, and communities to develop exceptional leaders who positively impact our communities.
Originally from Venezuela and currently based in the United States, my interest in leadership and education was sparked in high school when I led my first community project in Santa Rosa de Agua, Maracaibo. In this project, we educated the community about the importance of entrepreneurship and how to effectively manage their initiatives. This experience not only earned us recognition for the best community service but also transformed the lives of over thirty participants, inspiring them to start their own ventures and manage their businesses effectively.
Throughout my career as an accountant and educator, I’ve had the privilege of working on significant projects in the business sector, where I applied process reengineering to maximize the potential of various organizations. I was also a guest speaker at an interfaith peace forum at the Central University of Venezuela, in collaboration with UNESCO, where I inspired attendees to advocate for peace in their communities. Each of these projects has taught me the importance of collaboration among teams and the commitment to our community as servant leaders.
I firmly believe that servant leadership is essential in both the business world and education. In the business realm, an approach that prioritizes the well-being of the team and the community creates a more positive and productive work environment, driving innovation and growth. In education, a service-centered leadership fosters an atmosphere where everyone feels valued and supported, enabling each individual to realize their potential and become an agent of change.
I have led initiatives such as family workshops and created social media content in collaboration with The Patterson Foundation and Tuttle Elementary School, focusing on personal and professional growth to build more united and productive communities. My goal is to inspire everyone to engage in education and leadership development, creating an environment where each person, regardless of age, can thrive.
Guided by values such as empathy, integrity, a passion for education, and a commitment to community well-being, my vision is to collaborate and make a meaningful contribution toward a future where everyone has access to the knowledge and skills needed to become better servant leaders.
I invite you to join me on this mission. Together, we can collaborate for a better future, empowering parents and businesses to shape exceptional leaders. Let’s #BuildLeadersTogether!
When I was eleven, I helped my grandmother Rosa learn to write her name. She never had the opportunity to attend school, and it was difficult for her to receive lessons from an eleven-year-old on something so basic. She felt embarrassed that she couldn’t sign her name when collecting the government assistance we received. I clearly remember the day she succeeded in writing her name, letter by letter, with her trembling hand. She was 59 years old, and although she said nothing, the sparkle in her eyes spoke volumes. She was proud and happy to have accomplished it. Then, I understood I would dedicate a significant part of my life to education.
I earned my first academic degree as a Certified Public Accountant in 2010, becoming the first in my family to graduate from high school and later obtain a university diploma. Two years later, in 2012, I achieved my second diploma as a Specialist in Organizational Management, both from Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín University in Venezuela. My thesis, titled "Philosophical-Administrative Management Model for the Purchasing Department of Dr. Rafael Belloso Chacín University," received a publication mention. It was an exciting moment for my family to see me achieve these two significant goals after so much hard work. Without their support, it would not have been possible.
In June 2024, I earned my latest academic degree by completing my Master’s in Science of Leadership at Grand Canyon University in Arizona. This program provided me with an in-depth study of senior-level business skills combined with the ethical principles of servant leadership. It also helped me develop my leadership style by examining the core principles of communication, team leadership, and ethical business practices.
In February 2024, I received an invitation to join one of the oldest academic societies in the United States: Alpha Chi, founded in 1922. This honor society recognizes achievements in general scholarship and is dedicated to academic excellence. My invitation was a result of my academic performance, having achieved a GPA of 4.0.
I am the luckiest father to have a beautiful 19-year-old daughter. Since her birth, she has been one of the main reasons I moved forward and achieved my goals. She is a loyal friend, compassionate, and incredibly hard-working. I am immensely proud of her.
I am passionate about baking and love to create delicious treats. I remember when I was 11 years old and decided to make my first birthday cake for myself. I saved money from selling empanadas to buy the ingredients. My first cake spent five hours in the oven because our oven didn’t work properly. To keep the door closed, I used a broomstick to apply pressure. No one tried my cake, so I ended up eating it all myself. By the way, the cake never rose. Delicious!
In 2022, I was awarded School-Related Employee of the Year at Tuttle Elementary School. It was the fourth time I had been nominated for this important recognition given by my colleagues. This achievement led to my nomination as School-Related Employee of the Year 2022 for Sarasota County Schools. This recognition would not have been possible without teamwork and our passion for the school community.
